MESSAGE FROM THE CRICKET CHAIRMAN
It is with deep sadness and regret that I write to inform the membership of the untimely death of Mike Smith on 8th May, aged only 46.

Affectionately known to one and all as “Smithy”, Mike was a local Neston man and was introduced to the club by his Father, Pip, who was also a member.

Mike's Cricketing education began in the junior section, then progressed to 3rd XI cricket, regular Sunday social Cricket + he was an inaugural member of the NCC midweek team and in more recent years helped out with junior coaching.

He was a fine, solid tourist for a number of years when NCC toured various parts of UK in the 1980’s. To his fellow team members, Mike was a hard hitting, unorthodox batsman, an interesting slightly unconventional bowler, and a technically distinctive fielder.

He contributed enormously to many memories on and off the pitch, all carried out with his uniquely huge grin, an infectious enthusiasm and an unquestionable desire for sportsmanship.

Mike met his gorgeous wife Libby at NCC and they married in 1988.

They have two adorable daughters Sarah and Jenna, both of whom have inherited Mike’s many sporting and personal qualities.

He was one of life’s few but true gentlemen. A sincere, caring and loving Father who will be dearly missed by all.

Our love and thoughts are with Libby, Sarah, Jenna and family at this time.

THANK YOU
Just a big thank you to all those who helped out on Sunday for the County game. The ground looked fantastic and was a credit to John and Scooby. Many thanks to Julie and Jenny and their merry band of helpers who laid on a tremendous spread for the great and mighty.

The day was a credit to everyone. We also have a summer's supply of Bamgers and Burgers!

Many thanks once again

NESTON LADIES CRICKET
Delia writes:

Ladies Cricket practice including juniors from 10yrs are on Saturdays at 2.30 and Tuesdays at 6.30.

League, 20/20 and cup matches for ladies begin with a league game at Hawarden on Sun May 4th and there are U13 tournaments throughout the season.

We need more players in both categories so if you have not played before come and give Cricket a try - you never know you may be a fast bowler or a century making batswoman"
